Professional Career

Christo Patsan has 25 years in the professional advisory field in Australia and internationally, initially with Ernst & Young prior to forming EDN with his fellow Partners. In over 10 years with Ernst & Young and Ernst & Young Consulting he was involved in a broad range of performance improvement and organisational change projects from their offices in Newcastle, Sydney, and the Czech Republic. His last position with Ernst & Young was as Director, Performance Improvement. Major projects at Ernst & Young were:

  • in a strategic alliance with the Australian Centre for Best Practice (ACBP), undertaking a number of cultural and workplace change programs in the steel industry under the Australian Government’s Manufacturing Best Practice Demonstration Program.
  • working with major Czech companies Czechoslovak Airlines and VSZ Steel to advise and guide them in their shift from the former Communist economy to the market based economy, and entry into the European Union.

At EDN, Christo has specialised in safety performance improvement through facilitative processes in organisations including leadership development; HSE strategic and business planning; team development; key performance indicators; and performance management. Christo has displayed his key strength to be the ability to bring to his clients his complementary business and people development skills, in order to achieve positive results.

Published presentations and papers include:

  • Case studies of work with ACBP were detailed in Best Practice: Achieving Success (1994), Workplace Bargaining and Best Practice Branch, Federal Dept of Industrial Relations;
  • Best Practice in the Textiles Industry: Wax Converters Textiles, (2000) research paper of a case study conducted by the Employment Studies Centre of the University of Newcastle;
  • Managing in High Activity Periods, Perth 2005, DrillSafe: Australia’s Drilling Industry Quarterly HSE Forum;
  • Turning Theory Into Reality: Embracing Effective Safety Leadership Across Your Drilling Operations, Kuala Lumpur 2005, Drilling Safety Management in Oil & Gas Conference;
